Gioia Mia [joy-uh mee-uh] translates to “my joy.” Mary’s late grandmother often exclaimed these words as she watched her loved ones gather around her Sunday dinners. Her kitchen door was always open—welcoming anyone in need of a warm meal, midnight counsel, or a stovetop cappuccino. Her greatest joy was bringing people together through food, a passion that inspired Mary to pursue a career in hospitality.
If Grandma Mary left behind one legacy, it was her deep appreciation for family. Her love for cooking and gathering is what led us to bring Gioia Mia to the heart of Montclair—now, it’s our turn to share that joy with you.
Founded by Mary Cumella (General Manager) and Logan Ramirez (Chef de Cuisine)—both formerly of the beloved Fascino—Gioia Mia offers approachable yet elegant cuisine inspired by the rich bounty of New Jersey. Our menu is thoughtfully crafted with seasonal ingredients, sourced from local farms, fishermen, and select purveyors, blending elevated comfort with refined flavors.
