Gioia Mia translates to ‘my joy’. Mary’s late grandmother would exclaim these words while watching her loved ones enjoy her Sunday dinners. She kept her kitchen door open to anyone and everyone at any time of day. Anyone in need of midnight counsel and stove top cappuccinos could knock on her door and be welcomed in like family. Her love for watching family and friends come together through food was the main reason Mary got into the hospitality industry. If there was one legacy Grandma Mary wanted left behind, it was her appreciation of family. Her endless love for cooking and gathering inspired us to bring her “Gioia Mia” to the heart of Montclair, and now it’s our turn to share it with all of you.
Gioia Mia was started by Mary Cumella (General Manager) and Logan Ramirez (Chef De Cuisine) of the former, beloved Fascino. Here at Gioia Mia, we offer approachable, elegant cuisine inspired by New Jersey’s plentiful bounty. Sourced from local farms, fishermen and select purveyors, the Gioia Mia menu is carefully curated with seasonal dishes, infused with elevated comfort.
We are firm believers that food brings people together and we strive to create a culture of fulfillment for everyone who walks through our doors, from employees to customers. It’s about sharing, connecting with each other and building relationships, all while indulging in what the beautiful Garden State farm’s have to offer.
